That final edition, on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June behind Café-Restaurant Hofsteenge, featured Van Morrison, Brad Paisley, George Thorogood & The Destroyers and Keb’ Mo’, among others. According to MOJO, the line-up and the way it was run were a great success, but after years of looking for a way to keep the festival going, the organiser no longer sees a future for it.
“We look back with pride on nine fantastic editions in Grolloo, full of special performances, encounters and memories,” MOJO writes in a statement, in which the organiser thanks Grolloo and its residents and everyone who worked on the festival or came to it.
The festival began in 2016 and was not held in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. MOJO first organised it for Jan Lagendijk and Gregory Elias and later took it over. According to the Rolderpost, Rolde’s village paper, Johan Derksen from Grolloo was behind it in the early years: he came up with the festival, helped to organise it and was its figurehead.
